Concert Review:
Nov. 10/06
I have some more work to do on this review. I lost the file, so I've had to rewrite it. I'll finish it when I get back from the Ontario gigs. Here's what I have so far:
Stabilo got a really good crowd reaction tonight. The Dirtie Blonde logo appeared on the curtains again tonight. Someone needs to update that.
I was in section 36, row C, about 20 rows back tonight. I was sitting next to Scott Bowen and his wife Debbie. Scott was a drummer in JD’s highschool band Bad Habit. He’s a heart doctor now. They were unable to get Halifax tickets, so they came to the Moncton show. Scott mentioned that the girls were wild over JD even back then. Scott was trying to get a message to JD, and I gave him some paper from my notebook. He must have been successful because after the gig I saw him with JD.
Tonight the lights went out at 2:20 on the timer, so by the time it hit :10 the crowd was in a frenzy. And we heard JD moan at :05.
I got to hang out with the 448 Wangahs and had a blast here too. After the show, the INXS tour manager was very polite to our whole party. He has a difficult job to do, and we tried not to add to his list. We've had a number of encounters with the band so far, but we've been very respectful.
We got the hotel lounge to stay open late enough for us to regroup back at the hotel before going out. We had a drink with the back-up singers, who said this is a great gig, and the guys are wonderful to both work with and hang with. They said it's the best working relationship you could ask for, and that the guys made them feel comfortable. They remarked on the 448 “Biting It” shirts, and one of the Wangahs got them a tank top version of the shirt.
When the lounge closed, we got our jackets, and on the way down some of the guys from Stabilo went to get into the elevator, and asked us "are you girls going down?" And we said, yes so to speak, we were, and they laughed. We invited them to come drink with us.
Kirk's daughter April is here in Moncton, and is going to see her dad play tomorrow. That should be special.
